Vaishno Devi Yatra Rain Update 2025: Heavy rain, landslides ravage Jammu; Vaishno Devi Yatra Stopped (Tawi River in spate) 

🚨 Tragedy near Vaishno Devi Temple: 5 dead, 14 injured in landslide on shrine route.

💔 Jammu seems to be in chaos – Torrential rains triggers deadly landslides and flash floods. As per reports – 11 lives are lost and rescue ops are highly active. 

Heavy Rainfall – Deadly Landslides – Flash Floods

Heavy rainfall has hit Jammu hard this time – causing deadly landslides and flash floods, which has taken place near Mata Vaishno Devi temple. 

At least 9 people – 5 Vaishno Devi pilgrims died on Tuesday due to heavy rain that triggered landslides on the route to the temple’s route. 

Trains Cancelled 

18 trains that connect Katra, Udhampur, and Jammu have been cancelled. 

Schools Closed

All schools in Jammu will remain closed until August 27, 2025. 

Army Undertakes Rescue Operations

Indian Army has taken over rescue operations in Jammu – offices, schools will remain closed. The Indian Army, NDRF, SDRF and local administration have launched massive operations to respond to distress calls in affected areas. 

The National Disaster Response Force deployed boats in the CGM Science College area. Stranded students are saved from various areas of Jammu city. 

A large number of people have been evacuated … along flooded river banks and inundated low-lying belts in Jammu and Samba districts. The figure is in hundreds,” an official said.

J&K Meteorological Departments Warns

The meteorological department warns of very heavy hairfall in Jammu for the next 40 hours. Basantar, Tawi, and Chenab rivers are at high alert as of now. It is highly advised to avoid riverbanks and flood-prone areas. 

Hundreds Rescued from River Banks 

In Jammu, hundreds of people are evacuated from banks of flooded rivers. Samba district was pounded by heavy rain.
