Rema Nigerian singer comes from an influential background. His father, Justice Ikubor, has been a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State. Along with this, he was also a former General Manager of the state-owned Ethiope Publishing Company. 

Unfortunately, tragedy struck the family when his father was discovered deceased in a hotel room at Bins Hotel in Benin City in 2008.

On the other hand, Rema’s mother is named Hamida Nabbosa.

As a “Rap Nation” program member, which taught young people how to rap for the congregation, Rema began his singing career by performing with Alpha P in the Christ of Mercy church. 

The church members gave him a phone when he was only 14 years old, and he used it to download the beats to practice his singing and rapping. 

The Instagram video of himself freestyling to the tune of the song “Gucci Gang” by Afro-pop singer D’Prince went viral in February 2018, impressing D’Prince. D’Prince invited him to Lagos and welcomed him into the Mavin Records clan.

After a year of instruction, Jonzing World signed him as the first artist, making him the inaugural signing under Mavin Records’ first imprint record company.
