Madhu Shalini worked as a TV actor for a small time. Madhu, then, started doing movies and made her debut with E. V. V. Satyanarayana’s ‘Kithakithalu.’ In this movie, she worked opposite Allari Naresh and the movie was released back in 2006. It was one of Madhu’s successful ventures. After her debut movie, Madhu appeared in two more Telugu flicks in the same year. The movies were, Teja’s ‘Oka V Chitram’ and ‘Aganthakudu.’

2007 was her year for Telugu action comedy ‘State Rowdy,’ which is a remake of Tamil flick, Aethiree, directed by K. S. Ravikumar. Madhu Shalini played a character role of a Brahmin girl, which was played by Kanika in the original movie. Later in the year, Madhu Shalini debuted her Tamil film career with a small-budget flick called ‘Pazhaniappa Kalloori.’

 Madhu was later signed to play a lead actress in a Telugu project by D. Sabhapathy’s, ‘Happy Journey.’ She appeared in the Tamil venture, ‘Pathinaaru’ directed by D. Sabhapathy. The movie performed average at the box office and received mixed reviews. Though, Madhu’s performance as ‘Indhu’ got positive comments from critics, who believed that Madhu played her role with the utmost ease. They said, ‘she was adequate in her role, and acted like a professional.’

After that, Madhu Shalini appeared in ‘Karalu Miriyalu.’ Again, the project was not as successful as her performance. Madhu finally got a big break after being noticed by the National Film Award-winning filmmaker, Bala, who won a national award for his comedy movie, Avan Ivan. Madhu Shalini didn’t have to audition for this movie. Many girls auditioned for this movie, however, Bala’s expectations were quite high with this character role. So, finally, Madhu Shalini landed this role. Madhu Shalini played a character role as a college student in this film. She has no makeup on and dubbed for herself the first time in this movie.

Madhu Shalini debuted in Bollywood with Ram Gopal Verma’s ‘Department’ in 2012. She worked alongside ‘Amitabh Bachchan,’ ‘Sanjay Dutt,’ and ‘Rana Daggubati.’ Madhu Shalini again worked for Ram Gopal Verma’s horror movie, ‘Bhoot Returns’ in 2012. Two years later in 2014, Madhu Shalini appeared in a psychological thriller, ‘Anukshanam.’ Madhu also played the role of a reporter in ‘Gopala Gopala’ release in 2015. In the same year, Madhu played the role of Esther, a nurse in Tamil flick, ‘Thoongavanam.’ Madhu was seen in ‘Seethavalokanam’ as Seetha.
