About the Film

Adipurush is an Indian mythological movie that premiered on June 15, 2023, at the Tribeca Festival in New York City. The film is based on the Hindu epic Ramayana (written by Valmiki). The cast of the film includes Indian actors Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan, Sunny Singh, and Devdatta Nage. Om Raut is the film’s director, and T-Series and Retrophiles are its producers. The makers of the film shot this film in Hindi and Telugu languages. The movie’s release date had previously been set as August 18, 2020.

Plot

The story of the film revolves around Raghava, the king of Ayodhya, his wife, Janaki, and Lankesh, the demon king of Lanka. In the film, Lankesh abducts Janki, and Rama tries to save Janki from Lankesh with the help of the Hanuman army. The movie starring Prabhas is based on the 7000-year-old epic Ramayana. The movie’s posters were made public in 2020. In the film, Prabhas portrays Lord Rama, and Indian actor Saif Ali Khan portrays Lankesh. According to reports, the Indian actress Kriti Sanon was selected to play Sita in March 2021. Sunny Singh joined the cast of the movie in February 2021 to play Lakshmana, Lord Rama’s younger brother.

Facts About The Film Adipurush

1. Om Raut, the director of the movie Adipurush, once revealed in an interview with a media house that he was inspired by the 1992 Japanese movie Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama and chose to adapt Adipurush using contemporary technologies. In 2019, during the COVID-19 lockdown in India, Om Raut began writing the script of the film. He offered the lead role to Prabhas, who immediately liked the project. Om then collaborated with T-Series for its production.

2. The film came into the limelight in May 2023 when the makers of the film announced that it was the most expensive Indian film ever made in Bollywood history with a budget of over 700 crore rupees. The film’s visual effects cost around Rs. 350 crores, according to the film creators.

3. The film was dubbed in Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
4. On the day of Gandhi Jayanti in 2022, the movie’s trailer was published. According to some media reports, the release date of the film clashed with the Aamir Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha. Later, its release clashed with the films Veera Simha Reddy and Waltair Veerayya.
5. In an interview with a media house, Baahubali actor Prabhas revealed that he had a frightening experience while working on the film Adipurush. Prabhas said,
   “Adipurush was the most frightening experience. You can understand why. With Baahubali, I made a mistake, it’s fine (laughs). I didn’t want to make that mistake here. So it’s not just a film. It’s not even about my character. It’s the idea in totality. It’s pure. We have tried our best with this film. You can’t call it just a film. It’s beyond that.”

6. On May 20, 2023, its first song, ‘Jai Shree Ram,’ was out. The song was able to grab the highest number of views on YouTube on the first day.

7. On May 30, 2023, actor Allu Arjun announced in the media that his new multiplex would release the first show of Prabhas’s Adipurush on 16 June 2023. Reportedly, Allu Arjun is the owner of the Satyam Theatre in Ameerpet, Hyderabad.
